Joel Magarey Exposure

His travel writing, fiction, and poetry have appeared in Australian and American publications such as Meanjin, Quadrant, Overland and Antipodes, and he has been a featured poet in the international web journal Slope. Joel has degrees in the arts and humanities and is a professionally qualified Spanish-English translator.

A devoted traveller, he has mountain-climbed and lived in indigenous communities in many of the world’s most remote regions, including far-northern Alaska, Bolivia’s high-altitude Sur Lipez desert and the Amazonian rainforest. He has also denied, suffered, accepted and got the better of an anxiety disorder, which forms one of the subjects of his first book, Exposure.
